Hey John Nolte,
You missed something.    Amonix was backed by the Angeleno Group.  Angeleno's Co-Founder, Zeb Rice is on the board of Amonix.   Zeb Rice is ...surprise surprise.....an Obama Bundler.

The friends of Obama have happened on a great idea, though not an original one. Funnel government money through a company involved in technology they know doesn't work and has no market, then use that to launder the money and keep it. The idea was originally
devised by Max Bialystok and Leo Bloom in the movie and play, The Producers. Bialystok raised money for plays he produced. Bloom pointed out that he could make more money with a flop than a hit, since no investor will ask for his money back. The vastly oversubscribed surefire loser, Springtime For Hitler, however, became an instant hit, winding Bialystok and Bloom up in prison. These "solar technology" companies don't have to worry about that, since they know it won't work and can't sell. It's The Producers made perfect. No one will ever demand their money back!
WHERES THE PROOF
Renewable “investment” has never been about energy.  Solar and wind energies are so dilute -- they require continuous and substantial supplementation, primarily by the very the kind of fuels the solar and wind machines are expected to replace.  Their performance acts much like DEFECTIVE performance in terms of modern power performance.
No, what this is all about is rent seeking -- large corporations seeking tax avoidance through strip mining the tax code at the expense of taxpayers.  And lest we forget the higher electricity rates which come to us all as a consequence -- a must in order to keep their bubble inflated.  It's good for a select few -- bad for all of the rest of us.

Let's see now. For those of you keeping score we have the Obama administration wasting tax payer money at an alarming rate. We have:
Solyndra - $535 million tax payer dollars down the drain
Evergreen Solar Inc - $5.3 million down the drain
Spectra Watt - $500 thousand down the drain
Olsen Corp Service - $10 million down the drain
Mountain Plaza - $424 thousand down the drain
Tonnopah Solar Company - $737 million to build a solar farm in MEXICO
Geothermal Power $98.5 million down the drain
Amonix -  $21.6 million down the drain
Beacon Power Corp - $43 million down the drain
Solar Trust of America - $2.1 billion down the drain
Bright Source Energy Inc. - $1.6 billion down the drain
I don't know about you but I think I will start a solar panel company. I'm sure I can get a few million dollars from Obama and Steven Chu.

Thanks - Here is what Reuters reported:
The Oakland-based company has held rights for
the 1,000-megawatt Blythe Solar Power Project in the Southern California
desert, which last April won $2.1 billion of conditional loan
guarantees from the U.S. Department of Energy. It is unclear how the
bankruptcy will affect that project.
Solar Trust said it ran short of liquidity after Solar Millennium AG (S2MG.DE), which holds a 70 percent stake, sought court protection in December.

I clicked through to your links, and visited Amonix's website.  Amonix appears to have been in business more years than the # of months you claim--22 years versus the 14 months figure you report. I am not a cheerleader for the solar industry or any green company, but a more careful reading of the current events is in order. I don't believe the entire company is failing, just the facility in North Las Vegas.  There is more history to this company than you are reporting--they are on 7th generation of CPV-Concentrated Photovoltaic solar power technology.
Accuracy in media is important for all participants.

In Obama's eyes this has not failed. Things are proceeding as planned. Give tons of money to enviromental/green companies. Let them fail, but make sure they all get huge salaries and bonuses so they can in turn give some back to Obama's campaign.  It's perfect, hurt America, help his cronie friends get rich and then get the public money back through donations in the back door. The perfect scam, laced with hatred of America.
